Activities in Dullstroom

Fly Fishing

  • Dullstroom has become renowned for its excellent fishing facilities and is the fly fishing capital of South Africa.

  • Walkersons boasts 14 lakes and dams, all stocked with rainbow trout, making the Estate a fly-fisher’s paradise for both novices & experienced fly fishermen.

  • Our Guides are on hand to help any novices come to grips with the art of Fly fishing, if you are an experienced angler then they can advise you on good spots for a great days fishing.

  • The river is also stocked for 4km.

  • Permits essential (R200 per rod) – Catch and release only

  • Permits for river fishing, not dams and lakes.
  • 14 dams and lakes, and 4km flowing river

Walking & Hiking

  • A network of paved paths extends throughout the 890 hectare estate and up into the mountain reserve, making walking trails pleasantly simple.

  • Over 3000 meters of paved paths make it easy for either a hearty jog or a lazy, pleasant riverside stroll.

  • Alternatively our more energetic hike to the top of the estate will take you closer to the wild game which includes  Zebra, Black wildebeest and Blesbuck, and offers truly panoramic and spectacular views.

  • Birding & wild flowers enthusiasts, photography heaven

Horse Riding

  • Horse riding is currently taking place on a neighbouring farm approx 10km from our cottage. Please contact Dave Curtis for making your booking.  082 442 9766 (Beginners and experienced riders welcome)

  • You would be riding over stunning countryside

  • Horses are resident on the Estate, and riding is over the Estate grounds, amoung the animals up on the mountain.

Golf

  • 18 hole world class golf course situated at Highlands Gate, 25 minutes from us, with golf carts available for rental

Bird of Prey Centre

  • The centre located just outside of Dullstroom is open everyday from 9:00 – 16:00.

  • Flying displays accompanied by an informative and educational talk on the habits, behaviour and plight of birds of prey, makes this a must see. Flying show at 10:30 and 14:30

  • The village of Dullstroom is famous for its restaurants and bars.
